CLEAR methodology

What is CLEAR?

CLEAR is the most advanced technology of laser vision correction of the third generation to date – lenticular extraction with minimal intervention. This technology is an analogue of the SMILE method.

The third generation of techniques includes CLEAR, RelexSMILE, and SmartSight technologies.

The operation is performed through the smallest incision of the cornea and does not require a corneal flap, as with the LASIK method and does not damage the corneal epithelium, as with the FRK method.

How is CLEAR conducted?

The whole operation takes about 10 minutes and includes the following steps:

Formation of a lenticle in the thickness of the cornea using a femtosecond laser

Micro—incision of the cornea by 1.8 - 3.8 mm to extract the lenticula

Removal of the lenticula through a micro-incision

Why CLEAR?

CLEAR has a lot of advantages:

  • A unique automatic laser focus, which compensates for the movements of the eyeball during the correction procedure, allows you to achieve a high result.
  • The special FEMTO Z8 NEO system automatically corrects the axis of astigmatism, which is of great importance in patients with this disease.
  • With CLEAR technology, displacement of the corneal valve in the postoperative period is impossible, since this method does not create a valve. Therefore, this procedure can be undertaken even by those patients who are engaged in an activity with a high risk of eye injury (athletes, military, outdoor activities).
  • Thanks to the technology that preserves the natural strength of the cornea and minimizes damage to the corneal nerves, the risk of developing dry eye syndrome is significantly reduced.

Who is CLEAR intended for?

This method is intended for those patients who have the following vision problems:

  • Myopia (myopia) from -0.5 to -10 diopters
  • Myopic astigmatism from -0.5 to -5 diopters
  • Nearsightedness (myopia) and myopic astigmatism from -0.5 to -12.5 diopters in spherical equivalent

In addition, this technique is suitable for athletes, military personnel and other patients who lead an active lifestyle.

What is CLEAR done with?

In our clinic, CLEAR is performed using an advanced femtosecond laser system Ziemer Femto Z8 NEO (Switzerland).

It is unique because it operates at a low energy level with very short pulses and high frequency. In this process, there is significantly less damage to the eye tissues than when using high-energy lasers.

The patented optical coherence tomography system specially designed for FEMTO Z8 NEO allows the surgeon to obtain exceptional visualization of eye structures and optimizes the operation stages.
